Advice on How to Select the Best Cell Phone Provider
By: Phone Maven
Finding a cell phone service provider, along with getting the right phone, rate plan and service you require isn’t an easy task. Different brands exist and each of these brands comes with different plans, pricing options as well as colors. You even have different types of contracts to sign, the best thing however is to be prepared before you start your search for a cell phone provider.
The most important thing that matters when you’re choosing a provider is the geographical location within which you intend to make use of the service. Everything else may be fine and well but after all that if you have a poor service package in the area where you want to use your phone, everything else is useless.
You should think most importantly about how you intend to use the service and where and when it will be used. How do you intend to make use of your phone? Will you be using it for conversational purposes or strictly for business, will you be using it at home or during travel? You should also think of the user of the phone, that is you or the person you intend to purchase the phone for. Is the person old or young? Older people are less proficient with technology than younger people. Having the answers to these questions will help you determine other essential aspects which will get you the right carrier, technology and the coverage areas needed including features and rate plans.
A number of major carriers and a number of smaller carriers will most likely service the area where you live as well. You may choose to visit a store where their products are sold or you may opt to purchase their goods and services over the Internet. You should assess the coverage area and determine what will suit your own particular needs. A number of different plans exist and they range from regional to national or international coverage plans.
Other than this you have to figure out the rate plan that fits with your manner of usage. Some plans are limited, others allow for a number of different users at a discount while some allow internetwork calls to people you call regularly at no extra charge to you. Certain plans supply you with free phones, shipping, unlimited calling or night/ weekend rates or some other such offer. You should know that certain roaming fees apply for making calls that are not within your coverage area. Certain bundled plans also exist and these plans tend to combine your new phones with rate plans and other things that can end up saving you a lot of money.
Making the decision to sign a one or two year contract or an alternative plan is a personal choice. However, before you bring out your pen to sign a contract, make sure that you consider it carefully and pay the utmost attention to all the details. Do you have a grace period? How long is it and what does it offer you? If you decide to terminate your contract early, do termination costs apply? Make sure you take a look at the different plans offered by various carriers and choose what suits your needs.
